Experience

My experience includes over 5 years as a licensed mental health counselor, working extensively with individuals and couples, helping each in navigating life's obstacles. I have nearly 30 years of experience as a counselor in a school setting, working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I am heavily involved in youth and men’s ministry at my church and in the community. I have over 30 years of athletic coaching experience at the varsity level.

Specialities

Including but not limited to the following: Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Divorce, Relationship Issues, Spirituality, Sports Psychology, Grief and Loss, Personal Growth, Christian Faith, Adjustment Issues, Emotional Regulation, Anger Management, Diversity Issues, Family Issues, and Co-Parenting Counseling.

My Approach

My approach starts with a person-centered foundation with my belief that each client comes to therapy with the strengths and abilities to overcome. In the midst of feeling stuck, clients need support to navigate difficult waters and be challenged to new growth and healing. This healing and resolution come from the client’s strengths as clarity is revealed in the path forward.

I work from an integrative therapeutic approach, primarily through the lens of Solution-Focused Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).   My specific approach is determined by the individual needs of the clients I serve.  I work closely with each client to set therapeutic goals and move through the treatment plan towards healing, growth, and resolution.

I am passionate about mental health and advocating for my clients.  I draw from client strengths to elicit hope in the now, building confidence, skill, and assurance in the journey moving forward.

Outside the Office

My faith and my family are my biggest passions with most available time being spent there. I absolutely love to travel, and when I can connect that with my love for my family, it is family vacations where I experience some of my greatest joy.

I have a love and passion for all things sports.  While I enjoy most sporting events, it is college football and college basketball that get most of my attention in this area.

I love to read, and love to learn.  This is my reason why I will never be caught with a fiction book.  It is all non-fiction for me, looking for ways to learn and to grow.... and to take notes.

I love to connect with people, to hear individual stories and to share my stories in return.
