Experience

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist committed to helping individuals, families and couples. I have over 20 years’ experience, along with great enthusiasm, energy and passion for what I do. Witnessing the progress of so many people through the years, keeps my faith and confidence in the therapeutic process alive. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, difficulty with relationships, loneliness, lack of motivation, lack of support, marriage difficulties, divorce, and other struggles, come talk to me. Together, we will work on strategies that allow you to address the root causes of your difficulties and build meaningful social connections. We will explore how to release conditioned responses and emotional baggage from past experiences. You will learn new ways of communicating, focusing on the importance of self-love and self-care.

My Approach

Therapy is not always an easy process, but it can and will promote the internal and external changes that are causing or maintaining unwanted symptoms/problems. It is an effective way to grow as a person and to finally be the version of yourself that you envision as ideal. As a therapist, I will not hesitate to tell you things that may not be easy to hear, but I will also offer you the tools and strategies to tackle the root cause of your distress. I believe that a direct approach, with solution-focused interventions, utilizing awareness as a close friend, can take you to the place you want to be.

As a LMFT, I think systemically, that is, I look at the people in your life, the types of relationships you have, the patterns of behaviors that are problematic, and the “ball and chain” you might be carrying from the past. I do not hesitate to have conjoint sessions with the important people in your life, as we all have blind spots that can be seen by those close to us. I believe that this approach expedites therapy and catalyzes growth. Knowledge is power and surrounding you with every possibility to attain your goals is what matters.

With that said, therapy approaches must be utilized carefully, according to the person’s affinity and uniqueness. I do believe that a common mistake is to “treat everyone like a nail” because you have a hammer. A cookie cutter approach to therapy is ineffective and stale, in my opinion. Therapy is a dance between content and process, and although I am well-versed in many approaches, my goal is to find what works for you.

There are many layers of depression, anxiety and many other symptoms that must be explored and deciphered to be properly addressed. I often use the term “peeling the onion,” and that is precisely what I will do with you. In summary, together, we will look at the complex interplay of biochemical, psychological and social factors contributing to the development and maintenance of your symptoms/problems.

One of my strong suits is couples counseling, which is hard work but a very enriching experience. I specialize in narcissistic abuse, parental alienation and relationship problems, ranging from infidelity to financial abuse. If you are feeling depressed, anxious, scattered, unmotivated, and unfulfilled, please send me an email and let’s find together the pathway to health and fulfillment. I have over 20 years of experience, which gives me great excitement to work with you, as I trust the therapy process. I only work with adults.
