My first goal with clients is to create an environment and relationship where they can feel safe to share thoughts and feelings. We work collaboratively to identify where the client is feeling stuck in their lives, to better understand themselves and their issues, to identify solutions, and to take action toward their goals. I am an interactive therapist as I believe in the equal importance of non-judgmental listening, emotional support, and providing feedback, guidance, and education. It is important to me that my client is in charge of where they want to go with my role being to help them find their path.
I believe in the inherent strength of all people and my work is a blending of my relationship with my clients and strength-based therapy models, as applicable for each client. These include cognitive-behavioral, acceptance & commitment, and narrative therapy; mindfulness; and psychoeducation. In couples work, I also integrate the Gottman Method and Emotion-Focused Therapy.
